Indie-folk Popgrass with Three-Part Harmony
Little Flower House Concert #20
The Blue Eyed Bettys have roots in Indianapolis but it’s members now live in different cities so we were happy to be able have them all together for this intimate performance. This trio has a unique acoustic sound and lots of energy! While their tunes aren’t all happy, their delivery brought a smile to guests faces.
The trio consists of Daniel Emond on banjo, Sarah Hund on fiddle, and Ben Mackel on guitar. All theater performers too, their stage presence is polished and engaging. These very talented artists sing together in beautiful harmony as they play.
Now, the weather was a little uncooperative on this day. It had been on the edge of raining and everyone really was hoping to have the house concert outside. The band set up a canopy over the stage to protect their instruments and equipment and the concert started outside. A few songs in, the drizzle started and everyone picked up their chairs and moved inside.
Little Flower House Concerts are not weather dependent and will happen rain or shine. It was a team effort to get resituated. The band asked that guests please wear a mask indoors and extra masks were provided to those who forgot to bring one. Everyone’s cooperation and adaptability ensured that The Blue Eyed Bettys could continue playing the house concert and guests could absorb their art. This group was so fun to listen to. The show must go on!
Here’s what Ben had to say about the band’s experience. “Little Flower is one of our favorite house concerts! Even though it started raining in the middle of our set, the loyal listeners followed us inside and were with us the whole way. Kati made everything so easy and wonderful. From setting everything up, to providing local food venders – she is all about community, inclusion, and betterment through music gatherings. 100% Betty recommended!”
