Genre-Bending Improv Trio
Little Flower House Concert #34
At the November 2022 house concert, guests enjoyed a performance by the Sean Imboden Trio. This group includes Sean Imboden on tenor and soprano saxophones, Joel Tucker on guitar, and Jesse Wittman on bass. This trio is from here in Indianapolis and they all play in and/or lead other music groups. Sean, Joel, and Jesse are constantly practicing, perfecting their craft, writing, collaborating, learning new things about music, and teaching others. All three of these musicians are extremely talented and they are also local music educators. They have all made a life and a career in music here in Indianapolis.
Musician Testimonials
“My trio performed a few days ago at this series. It was one of my favorite concerts we have played. The intimate indoor setting and incredibly attentive audience allowed us to dig deep and play with passion and sensitivity. I really hope we can play again in the future, this series is great!” ~ Sean Imboden
“I very much enjoyed playing! The intimate audience and the food were awesome.” ~ Joel Tucker
This was the first time Sean and Joel have played a Little Flower House Concert, but Jesse has done it before. He played with Charlier Ballantine in May 2022 for the 3-year anniversary and also at the very first house concert back in May 2019. Jesse is the only musician who has played at three house concerts and he mentioned that playing for Little Flower House Concert guests have been some of his favorite gigs. This house concert was special because it was the weekend following our TV debut!
The Little Flower House Concert Series was on TV!
WISH-TV featured the Little Flower House Concert Series on their morning show, Life.Style.Live! to share some music with viewers. It was an exciting opportunity to highlight what is unique about the concert series, the Little Flower Neighborhood, and demonstrate how bringing the arts to the neighborhood helps strengthen the community. This was a special and memorable experience for the band and Kati, the monthly house concert host to share their love of music with even more local listeners.
Artwork by an Indy Sketcher
House concert guest, Steven Tanaka attended the Sean Imboden Trio house concert and brought his art supplies along. He created this artwork of the band during their performance. Even the dog (who is a co-host at the concerts!) made it into the piece. This was a very cool addition to the scene and he created an original piece of art while the musicians were playing their original music for guests. What a cool idea! Steve said that he started drawing when he went to some jazz performances at Coal Yard Coffee in Irvington.
Weiner Dreams Brought Vegan Chili!
No doubt, house concert guests were raving about the Weiner Dreams vegan chili. Small business owner, Smitty knows how to feed a crowd and he brought all beef dogs, veggie dogs, chili dogs, Chicago dogs, beer brats, and all the toppings. No one left hungry.
The Sean Imboden Trio played two sets with a break between. It was a nice nite but too cold to have the concert outside. It’s that time of year when the seasons dictate that the next several house concerts will be held inside. There was, and will be going forward, however a cozy fire in the backyard. So guests are welcome to mingle outside during intermission or after the concert.
Why not come to the next house concert, enjoy some music, a good meal, a warm fire, and meet your friends and neighbors?!
