Little Flower House Concert #30
At the July 2022 house concert, Rod Dixon & Triology was featured. This is the second time this band has been featured at the Little Flower House Concert Series. The first time they performed here was an indoor house concert back in January 2020. I was excited to welcome them back. This time the band had a slightly different configuration of members but the music was amazing as always.
Rod Dixon on saxophone (alto, tenor, and soprano), Richard “Sleepy” Floyed on drums, Brandon Meeks on bass, and Kendall Keyz Carter (sitting in for Steven Jones) on keys. This band is local to Indianapolis with the exception of Kendall who is from Lousiville, KY. Everyone in this group has various other musical projects and they play all around the Midwest. Their high energy and passionate delivery of their original tunes lit up the neighborhood with a special jazz sound.
It was the perfect evening for an outdoor hosue concert. Being mid-July, of course it was hot outside but with the new shade sails that I was able to put up in the backyard, guests stayed cool. There was plenty of shade! Huge thank you to everyone who donated to the house concert series to make this happen! As the evening progressed and the sun went down, it cooled off and was quite comfortable throughout the second set.
Several new guests attended this time. There were even a few dogs in attendance and several guests brought their kids too! Little Flower house concerts are the perfect place for families and people of all ages to enjoy good music. Not only is it a safe, intimate space to hear music but there are bubbles, hula hoops, and other toys for the kids to play with. The live music is always fantastic and it’s a great way to build a stronger, kinder community together. Everyone has an opportunity to make new friends, meet some neighbors, all while supporting live music and arts right here in our East Indy neighborhood.
Thank you to everyone who attended and showed support to these amazing local jazz artists. Rob even had CDs for sale and several guests were able to take some music home with them. There’s always a suggested donation at house concerts via honor system in a tip jar and all money goes to the performing artists. Any amount is always appreciated and if you want to help the house concert series separately, please consider donating to this GoFundMe and support a good cause that will improve future concerts.
