Little Flower House Concert #9
The January 2019 Little Flower House Concert featured Rob Dixon & Triology. Saxophonist Rob Dixon is a Jazz Musician, Educator, and the Musical Mayor of Indianapolis. His band is made up of some of Indianapolis’s finest jazz musicians and educators, each with their own projects as well. Our city is fortunate to have such amazing local artists!
The Little Flower House Concert Series was pleased to welcome Rob Dixon on saxophone, Steven Jones on keys, Brandon Meeks on bass, and Richard ‘Sleepy’ Floyd on drums. It was a full house and also the first time we have attempted a group photo including all of the guests after a house concert, per Rob’s suggestion!
Here’s what Rob Dixon and his band Triology had to say about their experience.
“I loved performing at the Little Flower House Concert Series. Kati (was) very welcoming to us when we played and it was just an awesome experience to get to interact with members of her community and those from the greater Indianapolis area… and a very intimate environment. There were snacks and drinks provided and (it was) just really good time. It was very awesome to perform for an appreciative audience and I look forward to the next one. ” said drummer, Richard ‘Sleepy’ Floyd.
Here’s what Brandon Meeks on bass had to say. “The thing I liked the most about performing for the Little Flower House Concert Series is that it’s very informal. Just like kicking it with some friends and family who joined us to listen to some music. It’s a very chill vibe.”
Pianist Steven Jones said, “As a jazz musician. I’ve been playing in and around the Indianapolis area for a little over 20 years. I think that there are moments in an artist’s career when they wonder why it is, they do what they do. What I liked about playing for Little Flower House Concert Series was the reminder that not all performances are ancillary or, um, you know, on the periphery of one’s experiences… There are chances that come along every now and then where you can actually reach out to someone else. You can actually leave a lasting impression. For me, that’s what you work towards. Those times when the stars align and you have a chance to really leave something behind.”
And Rob Dixon, saxophonist and band leader said, “I had a fantastic time playing the little flower house concert series produced by Kati Taylor. The series is awesome. She’s awesome. And we can’t wait until we do it again.”
