Little Flower House Concert #12

This was a special house concert because it was the first one to be livestreamed (and all of our concerts have been live streamed since!). During the pandemic, several of the Little Flower House Concerts had to be postponed because we could not gather as a group in such an intimate setting. These two artists, however, opted to do a live stream instead. While there were only five in-person audience members for this house concert, many more joined online. Tips were collected via a virtual tip jar. Kristina and Pernell generously also wanted to donate their earnings from this performance to a community organization that supports justice and equality. Over $400 was donated because of their performance!

Kristina Sharpe is a local, Indianapolis singer, songwriter and pianist. She also gives private lessons. Her music has so much soul. Her sound is pure and beautiful. Here’s what Kristina had to say about her experience.

“I performed at the Little Flower House Concert Series in the summer of 2020, alongside Pernell from Pike. And for me, the experience was great. As a singer songwriter, having an intimate audience, that you can really project the music from my piano and the lyrics to was great.

And I really felt connected with everyone involved. And so for me it was a great experience and really well received. Also, I appreciated that we were able to donate the funds from what we made that night to the Equal Justice Initiative, which is very near and dear to my heart. Bringing about that change and at the same time creating an experience for everyone to enjoy was really, really awesome.”

Pernell from Pike, another local artist, performed a set after Kristina. He’s a lyricist and rapper who has several projects around Indianapolis, including regularly performing with the group Clint Breeze and the Groove. Pernell is partly a storyteller and gave a great outline on how his music originated and has developed.

For his performance at the house concert, he did some tunes acapella and with audience participation clapping or stomping to keep the beat. He did some tunes on the guitar accompanying himself and he also did a few tunes on the piano.

The Little Flower House Concert Series was so pleased that we did not have to postpone this concert and welcomed both artists back for an in-person performance at a future date.
