Little Flower House Concert #14
This house concert was highly anticipated and very exciting for a few reasons. Joe Macheret played at the very first outdoor Little Flower House Concert in the backyard space. It was also the first live, in-person house concert after having to postpone several of the 2020 concerts.
The outdoor area in the back of the house was transformed into a lovely space for guests to come listen and for performers to share their art. Over the pandemic a privacy fence was installed, a stage built, landscaping done, and other improvements so that concerts could be hosted outside. Even though it was a chilly Spring evening, friends and neighbors gathered to listen. Being able to extend the intimate listening space to the outside of the house was exciting! It allowed for the continuation of these friendly community gatherings by better accommodating for social distancing requirements and comforts. This new space is a win for musicians and supporters of the arts.
Joe Matcheret is a Cincinnati-based musician who plays folk, blues, country, and more. He played a solo set for house concert guests and even got everyone singing along on a few tunes. Some of his fiddle tunes were crowd favorites! His storytelling between songs kept guests interested and explained where some songs originated. Some of Joe’s songs were funny, some sad, others about life but all were well received by the guests who attended. Everyone was grateful be able to enjoy live music and it was a happy and special house concert.
Check out his group Joe’s Truck Stop. He also plays with Cincinnati string band, The Tillers.
