Little Flower House Concert #28
June 2022 was the first time two artists were hosted in the same month. At this first June house concert, David Wax Museum was featured. This band is from Charlottesville, VA and was traveling through Indy on a tour opening for Guster and The Wood Brothers. Our little community was very fortunate to have the opportunity to enjoy their amazing talents up close at this intimate house concert.
This band has spent extensive time in Spain and South America studying music. David Wax Museum has a Mexican inspired folk sound and use a variety of instruments to create their lovely songs. Their a unique sound that blends traditional Mexican son music with Americana – they call it “Mexo-Americana”. The songwriting is also very special and their songs have a cheery sound but also have a very real, raw, and relatable quality too.
This was the first outdoor house concert of 2022 and it was a full house. Outdoor concerts are so fun because the kids can play together and guests enjoy an evening outside with the sunset as a lovely background. On this particular day, the weather was hot… very hot, like 90+ degrees. Ugh! However, guests stayed cool and hydrated and shade was available. The heat did not stop us from enjoying an amazing evening of music together.
David Wax and Suz Slezak are a husband and wife duo. They play a variety of instruments and have been making wonderful music together for years. They brought their kids along on the tour who are their biggest fans (and promotors!). Their cute kids even danced around holding posters and merch to get the crowd excited. It was a pleasure getting to meet them.
David Wax Museum also played a more experimental tune using a Synthesizer and Suz even performed a few of her solo tunes. Her beautiful new solo record is also amazing and available online. Check it out!
Guests really enjoyed listening in and were able to take a piece of the night home with them if they wanted because David Wax Museum has lots of great merch… Vinyl, CDs, T-shirts, posters and more. What a wonderful night!
