Little Flower House Concert #21

The November 2021 house concert featured CoyoteBear. CoyoteBear is genre-fluid, member shifting brain child of Cody Hall.

Cody Hall played two solo sets for Little Flower Guests. He was born in Houston, moving around the Midwest and South as a child until he landed in Lafayette, IN to stay. Moving around may have contributed to the broad range of music he enjoyed growing up—rock, reggae, bluegrass, punk, rap, heavy metal—and that later influenced the songs of his Lafayette-based band, Traveling Broke and Out of Gas, as well as CoyoteBear.

With rolling guitar and plaintive strains on the harmonica, Cody brought a sense of stillness and rumination to the solo work he performed for Little Flower guests. His distinctive husky wail has mellowed, the melody coming through his voice more strongly than the texture.

Here’s what Cody had to say about his experience. “I had the absolute pleasure of performing a Little Flower House Concert. From the moment I parked and saw the paper lanterns lining the walkway I knew I was in for a magical evening! Everyone was so welcoming and Kati is a fantastic hostess. The room has outstanding acoustics and a very cozy vibe… I really enjoyed the giant map of Indianapolis and the illuminated globe! The audience was so attentive and engaged, it was everything I hope for in a house concert experience. I got to meet a lot of really nice folks and enjoyed a delish wrap from Open Kitchen. I love this place, can’t wait to go back!”
