Two Different Folk Groups

Little Flower House Concert #2

House concert guests got an extra long evening music created by some very talented artists playing folk, rock, blues, and more. For guests, this was quite an experience to see these artists up close in an intimate setting.

The first hour of music freatured a local group from Nashville, IN. The Hammer & The Hatchet are an American Roots duo featuring John Bowyer on vocals, guitar, and mandolin and Jayme Hood on guitar and vocals. They have a real and unique sound through their strong vocals and songwriting. Their original tunes tell stories that pulled the audience into their performance.

The second artist that played was Greg Klyma, a songwriter and guitarist from Boston, MA. He travels all around the Midwest, sharing his folk music and storytelling. He stopped through Indianapolis with his trio to play for us. He was with Ed Croft from Buffalo, New York on bass and Kyle Heynan from Effingham, IL on drums. They played a variety of styles that included a mixture of blues, funk, rock, and jam. Greg is a wonderful entertainer and his group was fun to listen to.

Here’s what Greg Klyma had to say about his experience. “Let me tell you how lucky you are to have Little Flower House Concert Series in Indianapolis… the space is super intimate and it feels like the audience is right there in the show with you… And you can tell that everybody loves live music. It is so special to play for an audience that is so attentive and into the music… I know my good shows from my bad shows and Little Flower House Concert Series is a really good show!”

As a bonus, these groups played a few songs together at the end of the night making this house concert extra special. It’s always great to see artists collaborate and because these artists don’t play together often, this is a combination is one few will see live.
