Little Flower House Concert #1

The very first musicians to perform at the Little Flower House Concert Series were Charlie Ballantine on guitar and Jesse Wittman on bass. This duo has a calm, yet energetic jazz and experimental sound.

This first house concert for the series was a success and guests enjoyed the intimate setting. There was a pitch in of snacks shared and folks brought their own drinks. Music filled the house and guests listened attentively.

Both Charlie and Jesse are masters of their instruments, key local performers, composers, and music educators. Here’s what the artists had to say about performing at the house concert series.

Here’s what guitarist Charlie Ballantine had to say, “I absolutely loved performing at the Little Flower House Concert Series. I think we were the first group to ever play the series and it was immediately just such a great atmosphere and environment to perform in and be creative. And the intimate setting lends itself to everyone kind of connecting and everyone becoming friends immediately, even though most of us didn’t know each other… ”

And, bassist Jesse Wittman said, “I played duet with Charlie Ballantine as the opening show for the Little Flower House Concert Series and I really had a good time. I think that this house concert is a great experience for both the artists and the audience. We were able to play whatever we wanted to a very small and attentive audience. I enjoyed being able to play my bass acoustically without any amplification. And I think everyone enjoyed hearing the music making so up close. It was great to see so many of the music lovers of this city that I usually see in clubs and bars in such a comfortable and intimate environment. I can’t wait to play this house concert again, and I want to thank the Little Flower House Concert Series and especially Kati for all that she does for the Indianapolis music scene.”

Both Charlie and Jesse are music educators. You can catch them playing together and with other projects throughout Indianapolis and regionally. This duo is a favorite among the house concert host and her guests.
