Folk/Americana, Mid-Western Storytelling in Harmony
Little Flower House Concert #29
June 2022 was the first time two artists were hosted in the same month. At this second June house concert, My Politic from Nashville, TN came to play for us. My Politic is Kaston Guffey on guitar and Nick Pankey on guitar and mandolin. The band played all original music written by Kaston.
These genuine fellas have a thoughtful, respectful and kind yet direct political perspective through their songs. There is a lot of heart and truth in their music and it was the perfect audience to listen to what they had to say. They also sang together and harmonized in a way that their voices blended together perfectly.
It was a lovely evening for an outdoor house concert. The weather couldn’t have been more beautiful which makes the intimate outdoor space even more enjoyable. At one point during this concert a rainbow appeared in the sky and there was no rain in sight!
Smitty, or “The Weiner Guy”, (as guests lovingly call him) was back with his small local business, Weiner Dreams. These are the best hotdogs around and guests could even get vegan hotdogs loaded with all the yummy toppings. He even supported the band by feeding them and buying a cool t-shrit. My Politic had some other great merch too including CDs and vinyl records.
Here’s what guest, Steve Peck had to say. “My wife, Carol, and I had the distinct pleasure of seeing Folk-Americana duo My Politic at a fabulous Little Flower House Concert. These guys soak you with glorious blood harmonies thru the songs… Lots of aching tales of downtrodden characters that were spiced up with whip crackin’ topical songs that were razor sharp and funny (too bad the topics were so sad and true). I had the opportunity to talk to both Kaston and Nick and I really appreciate the time they took. Great guys. There is a sea of acts out there making this kind of music, but most don’t come close to the genuineness and spot on talent they possess. “
A very special thank you goes out to Courtney Brooks for using his creative eye, equipment, and photography talent to take wonderful photos at the house concert. Thank you for sharing these with us, Courtney!
