Jug Band Variety Show
Little Flower House Concert #24
The February 2022 house concert featured the duo, Bones Jugs, from Urbana, IL.
Bones Jugs describes themselves as “Quirky songwriting, blazing xylophone, jug and kazoo buzzing, banjos galore, Bones Jugs is sure to bring a smile to your face.” And they certainly did bring smiles and giggles to the faces of Little Flower House Concert guests. This band is so much fun to watch and listen to!
Our little neighborhood was thrilled to welcome this unique group and enjoy a funky, fun house concert together. While Bones Jugs has evolved over the years with different members, they took the form of a duet this time. “Cosmic” Charlie Harris and Cody “Bones” Jensen are some of the most talented, musically thoughtful, and entertaining guys in the Midwest.
Charlie and Cody played to a full house of attentive guests who were fascinated with the music and entire act. Many guests even commented that they had never heard such music before and weren’t familiar with some of their instruments. Both musicians were extremely receptive to audience questions and enjoyed sharing their creative music with everyone.
It was amazing to see how many instruments these two could play simultaneously while creating all different sounds (that were often surprising or unexpected!). They played banjo and xylophone rag tunes and jug music that kept everyone entertained and amazed! Their music is fun, funny, and percussive, with an eclectic acoustic sound that filled the house.
Here’s what Charlie had to say about his experience performing at the Little Flower House Concert Series. “As a performer with Bones Jugs, I had a wonderful time. The community has a gracious host and a perfect audience that listened, engaged, and displayed warm and welcoming appreciation for us as people and our music.”
Special thank you goes out to local photographer, Courtney Brooks for taking photos for us at this concert!
